Are you a women who has a tummy from having babies or because you have put on some weight? Do you want to know how to dress to make it look smaller or hide it?
If this is you then I am here to help you find some ways to do that while still looking stylish. I struggled with this same issue after giving having my boys and not being able to get rid of all the baby weight. I wasn't sure what to do at the time so I would wear large shirts that covered it up, but we all know that was not at all flattering. I then went on a mission to find the best way to do this and to be able to look good and stylish in the process. I want to share with you what I have learned.
There are some basic things that will make this easier and I will let you know what they are. That way you will be able to put together your own outfits and feel confident. I will also give you some clothing suggestions that might help. However, I want you to go with pieces that match your own style and find what works best for you.
Dresses
When you wear dresses go for a shift, empire waist, swing, or one with rouching. However to give you style and some shape pair it with a tighter fitting jacket, cardigan or blazer and leave it open in the front. It is best to avoid anything that is tight or form fitting, such as bodycon style dresses.
Pants
My best suggestion is to wear high waisted anything so it does not cut into your midsection making it even more obvious. Also look for jeans and pants that are structured good and have some stomach structure to help hide it better. Better quality pants and jeans will hold up better and not stretch out and constantly fall down. Judy Blue makes some great jeans with a great amount of stretch and give so they do not get stretched out and stay that way and fall down.
Tops
For tops find anything that you like and fits your personal style but that have structure and are not too tight or way oversized as that is not flattering and will make you stomach took bigger. If you wear a tighter top, blouse or sweater than wear something that is looser on the bottom. If you wear a looser style top, blouse, or sweater than wear a tighter style bottom. You never want to wear tight or loose on both the top and bottom.
It is best to layer outfits with either a dark underlayer and brighter outer layer or visa versa. This way it will trick the eyes and make it seem as if your midsection is smaller than it is. You can always add a great piece of shapewear as well.
As a busy mom of 7 boys, I am always looking for clothes that are of high quality, have great structure, and comfortable. Items that I can wear running around doing errands, but also dress up for work, a girls night, date night, and more. This is one of the reasons why I started my boutique is so that I could find those type of pieces and help other women be able to find them too. I want every woman to feel beautiful and confident in what she is wearing.
